Recently, due to our traveling schedule, we attended Mass out of town. The priest's speaking style was very casual and conversational throughout the Mass. As he began his homily (sermon), Katharine leaned over to me and said, "I want to hear something holy. Not this normal stuff."
You see she was waiting for the part of Mass where she usually turns her ears off, or onto other things. But due to this conversational tone, she was certain that he was still just talking to us, and was far too engaging...and therefore very normal.
Our home priest would be happy to know that according to Kate, he speaks very holy.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! What a funny little bird! At least she whispered it, Cooper would have said it really loud and embarrased us all!!!
You know that's funny because I just had this conversation with Dave H. the other day. I’ve been to your church a couple times and I can't understand a thing that he's saying! I can't determine if doesn't enunciate his words or if he just likes to speak mumble jumble.
So, like Kate, my ears always turn off because I can't understand a thing anyways.
Amber ... It's the new speaker system. It's like being in an echo chamber. It's worst for us cantors (soloists). There are times I just can't hear myself. Not good if you're trying to stay on pitch.
btw, I like Fr. B's homilies -- when I'm actually able to focus on him and not my sometimes wiggly son.
kate sounds like a very observant kids. most would turn it off just because an adult is speaking.
hope you have a great weekend.
i love fr. b's homily's too. kate is just so used to him that she knows when he has gone into preaching mode.
she knows that mom and dad require her partcipation at some parts and then she can sit and disassociate during others.
